French director Catherine Breillat has courted controversy both in her native country and abroad with provocative and sexually explicit films like ROMANCE and BAISE MOI. PERFECT LOVE is similarly uncompromising. It follows the intense affair between Frederique (Renauld) a well to do divorce and Christophe, a volatile and emotionally immature younger man. As their relationship develops into romance, Christophe freely sees other women making Frederique, tired of men who can't commit, resentful and angry. Soon, their affair has become psychologically damaging to both, creating tensions that are assuaged only during sex.
