Set against the backdrop of a tropical island, this classic romance revolves around a beautiful girl named Maria who lives with Anselmo, her aging fisherman father. Anselmo is very protective of Maria, especially after his other daughter Magdelena marries a man without asking for his blessing. Living in the cabin next door are Pablo and Doroteo, both of whom have feelings for Maria. Meanwhile, Maria only cares for Pablo. When Magdelena returns home to ask for Anselma's forgiveness, Anselma surprises her by not only forgiving her, but also hosting a party in her honor.
