Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini created one of cinema's most distinct, influential, and lasting bodies of work over the course of his legendary career. Fellini's films explored the director's innermost fears, dreams, and desires with uncompromising originality, and forever changed cinema in the process. In this documentary from Damian Pettigrew, audiences get to hear from the director himself, who was interviewed just months before his passing in October 1993. Fellini isn't a theorist, and that's what makes his discourses so entertaining. He proves that his films were true expressions of the subconscious, without the over-intellectualizing that plagued the work of so many of his peers. In addition to clips from 8 1/2 and LA DOLCE VITA, Pettigrew presents behind-the-scenes footage of Fellini directing SATYRICON and AMARCORD. This footage provides greater insight into the director's almost comically two-dimensional view of actors, who he treated more like puppets than actual human beings. Corroborating this are several actors who worked with Fellini on different projects, including Donald Sutherland, Terence Stamp, and Roberto Benigni. A must-see for film aficionados, I'M A BORN LIAR only adds to the director's already boundless mystique and charm.DVD Features:Region [unknown]Keep CaseAudio: Dolby Digital - English Dolby Digital - ItalianAdditional Release Material: PreviewsInteractive Features: Scene Selections

Acclaimed director Krzysztof Kieslowski presents this sociopolitical drama about life in modern Poland. The story follows Witek (Boguslaw Linda), whose life is played out in three different variations after an insignificant train encounter. In the first version, Witek catches the train, meets a sincere communist, and becomes a party activist. In the second, he bumps into a guard while trying to catch the train. He is arrested, stands trial, and is sent to an unpaid labor park where he encounters an individual from the opposition and becomes a militant member of their group. In the final strand, he misses the train, meets a fellow student, falls in love, and settles into a calm life as a doctor who wants nothing to do with politics. Kieslowski uses his seemingly fantastic plot device to make his point even more dramatically, showing how thin the line is between each of these characters and their lives. At the same time, he condemns politics by humanizing them and keeping them closely related. A powerful reflection of a country in transition, Kieslowski's BLIND CHANCE is a moving work that enlightens while it entertains.DVD Features:Region [unknown]Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Additional Release Material: Trailer - 1. In this steamy Spanish love story directed by Bigas Luna (JAMON JAMON), sexy young Marina (Leonor Watling), falls for gorgeous literature teacher Ulises (Jordi Molla) who arrives in town and takes a room at her parents' humble boarding house. On long walks through the hills in Valencia, Spain, bordering the deep blue Mediterranean Sea, Ulises recites passages from Virgil's THE AENEID, eventually winning Marina's heart. A shotgun wedding is quickly followed by the birth of their son, Abel (Ricky Colomer). Financially encumbered, the couple is nonetheless happy, and Ulises has a small fishing boat that he takes for joyrides on the bay. On her daytimes apart from Ulises, Marina is followed and fawned over by local business typhoon Sierra (Eduard Fernandez), who will stop at nothing to have her. One day, Ulises sets sail in his little boat for a midnight cruise, is caught in a storm, and disappears. Grief-stricken Marina settles into an ironically comfortable, pampered life with the disgustingly rich Sierra. Five years later, Marina answers the phone and hears a familiar voice at the other end: Ulises has returned. Will she go back to him and follow her passion? Or will she resist returning to her true love for the sake of her five-year-old child?DVD Features:Region [unknown]Keep CaseWidescreen - 1.85Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - SpanishAdditional Release Material: Trailers Featurette - 1.
