Greek director Michael Cacoyannis brings Euripedes' classic tragedy to the screen with great liberties. Taking off from the murder of Agamemnon, this version of the tragedy sticks to the basic story of Elektra marrying and the ensuing double murder. Yet, Cacoyannis has stripped away much of the original dialogue in favor of stark cinematography and silent stretches. Irene Papas is outstanding as the doomed heroine.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 1.66Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital Mono - Greek Dolby Digital Mono - French Dolby Digital Mono - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1. In 1938, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, Germany invites a group of Spanish filmmakers to Berlin in order to make two film versions of the hit Andalusian musical production The Girl of Your Dreams, one in German and one in Spanish. The German Minister of Propaganda under Hitler welcomes them with open arms, if only to get in the good graces of Spanish leading lady Macarena Granada (Penelope Cruz).
