In SATYRICON, Italian New Wave director Federico Fellini depicts the hedonistic, amoral, pre-Christian world of ancient Rome. Using the unfinished classical writings of Petronius as his guide, Fellini invents a dreamlike culture full of strange, distant characters and odd, grotesque events. Though the film lacks a definitive plot or narrative structure, its constants are Gitone (Max Born) and Encolpius (Martin Potter), whose unsavory encounters with sex, the theater, and religion are the film's focal point. Presenting a loosely structured episodic tale of decadence and depravity in ancient Rome, SATYRICON follows the adventures of two students as they negotiate their way through a variety of mishaps, dangers, and sexual encounters. What results is a bizarre journey through ancient Rome. This story is a perfect example of Fellini's accomplished skill in bringing fantasy to the screen.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 2.35Audio: Dolby Digital Mono - Italian Dolby Digital Mono - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1. Seijun Suzuki, the legendary Japanese director probably best known for the cult hit BRANDED TO KILL, returns with this movie about a league of killers of hire. Something of a sequel to BRANDED TO KILL, the film stars Makiko Esumi as a killer named Miyuki Minazuki but known as Stray Cat the number three assassin in Japan's professional killer guild. As in its predecessor, number three is contacted by the guild and ordered to kill number one. Knowing that if she succeeds she will become number one, Miyuki embarks on a difficult and dangerous mission to kill the elusive number one. Told in Suzuki's trademark style that blends a fractured narrative with lurid and heavily stylized action sequences, PISTOL OPERA is another brilliant work from a great director.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseInteractive Features: Scene Access Interactive Menus

Philippe d'Orleans (Philippe Noiret) is the ruling regent in late 18th Century France, where Louis XV has been dead for four years, and the French Revolution is fomenting. Though his power is contingent, the regent attempts to rule fairly and keep the peasants content due to his genuinely humanistic sentiments. Financially, however, Philippe is less noble, mismanaging the nation's treasury and siphoning funds from the American colonies. He is also a true libertine, with his greatest loyalties lying with hedonism and aestheticism. When a small uprising causes Philippe to act against his better judgement to quell the inchoate revolution, he joins forces with a corrupt, power-hungry priest, and the political and personal pressures he faces come to a head. With stunning performances turned in by Christine Pascal as the ruler's accomplice and confidante, and Jean Rochefort as the brilliantly evil Abbe, this lush production is both an enlightening historical document and an enthralling exploration of ethics and desire.DVD Features:Region (unknown)Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Additional Release Material: FilmographiesText/Photo Galleries: Stills Gallery
