For over three generations, El Chavo del 8 has charmed Spanish-speaking audiences the world over with its wildly zany appeal. A Mexican television landmark still on syndication to this very day, the series is a winning formula of slapstick comedy and social commentary that is reminiscent of The Little Rascals. El Chavo is an eight-year-old (played by a full-grown adult male) who practically lives inside a barrel in the courtyard of a community filled with loony but memorable characters. This fourth volume of THE BEST OF EL CHAVO DEL 8 compiles some of the series' best loved moments from its 30-year history, including Don Ramon Loco, Confusiones, El Raton de Quico, and La Ropa.DVD Features:Region [unknown]Keep CaseFull Frame - 1:33Additional Release Material: Includes Ultra-Rare Episodes from the Early YearsInteractive Features: Interactive Menus Scene Access

My Best Fiend (DVD) My Best Fiend (DVD) » My Best Fiend (DVD)

Werner Herzog directed this documentary about the puzzling relationship between himself and actor Klaus Kinski. Beginning with their apocalyptic first meeting at age 13 and continuing through AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD and their subsequent films together, MY BEST FIEND reveals the deep trust involved in maintaining such a powerful love-hate relationship as the glue that keeps them from following up on their plans to murder each other. Candid and intimate interviews with Kinski's costars are interspersed with rare and compelling behind-the-scenes and behind-the-camera footage from such classic Kinski/Herzog collaborations as AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD and FITZCARRALDO.Herzog himself dryly narrates as the magnetic and destructive energy that resulted when Herzog and Kinski clashed is contrasted with footage depicting their, at times, gentle and brotherly love, in this portrait of two artistic visionaries feeding off each other. From his early days as an aspiring and intense young actor to stints as a ranting and raving performance artist taunting audiences with claims that he was Jesus, Kinski's extraordinary and extravagant persona comes across strongly in Herzog's double-edged love letter of a film.VHS Features:Letterboxed - 1.77Trailers - 1. Tokyo Godfathers (DVD) Tokyo Godfathers (DVD) » Tokyo Godfathers (DVD)

Thoroughly modern in its story, its characters, its urban Tokyo setting, its absurdly funny action sequences, and its understated and ironic self-mockery, TOKYO GODFATHERS is an anime gem from director Satoshi Kon (MILLENNIUM ACTRESS). It is a snowy Christmas in Tokyo and three homeless people--Hana, Gin, and Miyuki--who drift through the streets and alleyways of the city staying warm in the supermarkets and soup kitchens, make up a nontraditional family. Gin is a older man who once had a wife and daughter but lost them and spiraled downward into drinking and drifting. Hana is a flamboyant cross-dressing homosexual who dreams of having a baby. And Miyuki is just a kid--a young girl who ran away from home after a conflict with her father and is still battling familial demons. When the three motley but loving bums find a baby girl abandoned in the garbage on Christmas Eve, they know they've received a true gift. But in their attempts to return the baby to its real mother they go on a wild goose chase all over Tokyo solving mysteries, pursuing criminals, and all the while tackling their own personal problems. According to director Kon, the plot is based on the 1948 Western 3 GODFATHERS directed by John Ford. This immensely entertaining film features a jazzy score of electronic music, excellent illustrations, and superb character development.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseWidescreenAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - JapaneseAdditional Release Material: Trailer - 1.
