A neverending visual feast of strikingly beautiful images--from a stone chateau looking over the ocean in the English countryside to the grand art ateliers and beautifully decorated parlors of Paris--Francois Truffaut's TWO ENGLISH GIRLS is the story of the lovely Anne (Kika Markham) and her intriguing little sister, Muriel (Stacey Tendeter), who invite their Parisian friend Claude (Jean-Pierre Leaud) to spend one summer with them in England and then spend the rest of their lives wrapped up in their changing relationships with him. That first summer, while painting canvases by the sea, playing lawn tennis, having lively games of charades in front of a majestic fireplace, the threesome becomes quite close. Despite Muriel's weak emotional and physical health (including damaged eyes that cause her to sometimes wear a macabre bandage across her face) and Anne's overprotectiveness, the banal scenario becomes rather interesting as the randy trio becomes more and more engrossed in their romantic games, leading to numerous turns in the story. An analytic narrator keeps the action on track, while the majority of the tale is told in voice-overs by the characters, who are constantly writing personal letters to each other or pouring their hearts out in their diaries. The narrative style of TWO ENGLISH GIRLS follows the traditional format of a Jane Austen period piece, while its emotionally complex story line, symbolically loaded cinematography, and attention to famous works of art--especially Rodin--give it an intellectual sophistication and a seductive sheen. Like the similarly themed JULES ET JIM, Truffaut's film is once again based on a novel by Henri-Pierre Roche.DVD Features:Region 1 EncodingKeep CaseSpecial Features: Production Notes, Scene Access, Filmographies/Awards, Extra Truffaut Trailers

Alex begins her search to uncover the killer, using only her knowledge of art history as her guide, and a classic slasher films turns into a smart whodunnit, with stellar performances turned in by Fele Martinez (THE ART OF DYING) and Maribel Verdu (Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN).

This Italian film from director Henrique Goldman traces the journey of teenage transsexual Fernanda (Ingrid de Souza) as she heads from her native Brazil to the seedy world of Italy's transsexual prostitution scene. Unlike most of her fellow prostitutes, Fernanda's most cherished desire is to have a sex-change operation, fall in love with a man, and live the normal life of an Italian woman. When a new client, Gianni (Cesare Bocci), approaches her one night, it seems that her dreams will come true. However, as Fernanda makes the transition from streetwalker to housewife, she discovers that what she left behind might be more fulfilling that what she thought she always wanted.Goldman's treatment of his chosen subject is never judgmental and rarely one-sided--he not only shows great affection and understanding of the transsexual prostitutes, but also seeks to humanize and understand the numerous Italian men who come to them as clients. From the carnival-like Milan street market of the hookers to Fernanda's placid and ordered life with Gianni as a homemaker, PRINCESA avoids lingering on the characters' unusual lifestyles and instead focuses on their complex inner lives.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseSingle Side - Single LayerLetterboxed - Anamorphic - 1.85Audio: Dolby Digital Surround - ItalianAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1.
