This feature-length documentary delves into the life and career of Jacques Demy, the noted French New Wave director, known for his classic tribute to the Hollywood musical, THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG. His early work was highly stylized, energetic, and romantic. His first feature, LOLA sported camera work reminiscent of the work of Max Ophuls (to whom the film was dedicated). His work declined later in his career, as he experimented with true comedy and musicals that never quite achieved the magic of CHERBOURG. A sequel to the cult classic ZEIRAM (aka ZERAM), this film once again finds the beautiful bounty hunter Iria (Moriyama) visiting Earth. Accompanied by a combat assistant and a super computer known as Bob, Iria has unwittingly brought a Zeiram alien to Earth. Her combat android was made by a company who, in a decision made to cut corners, implanted the android's brain with a Zeiram alien instead of a costly tactical program. It isn't long before the alien seizes control of the android and begins terrorizing Iria and her old friends Teppei and Kamiya.
