Gael Garcia Bernal (Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN, AMORES PERROS) stars in EL CRIMEN DEL PADRE AMARO, a controversial drama that was a box office smash in its native Mexico. Directed by Carlos Carrera, the film tells the story of a young priest who succumbs to temptation and corruption. Father Amaro (Bernal) is a handsome 24-year-old who has recently been assigned to a new church in Los Reyes. Upon arrival, he discovers that his mentor, Father Benito (Sancho Garcia), is having an affair with a local restaurant owner, Sanjuanera (Angelica Aragon). At first shocked, Father Amaro soon finds himself in a moral predicament of his own. Amelia (Ana Claudia Talancon), Sanjuanera's 16-year-old daughter, is a gorgeous teenager who falls deeply in love with the tempted priest. Before long, Father Amaro and Amelia are entangled in a steamy relationship, further testing the young priest's moral fiber. Based on the classic Portuguese novel by Eca de Quieroz, Carrera's film is a scathing indictment of the hypocrisy and corruption that has plagued the Catholic church from its inception. character is a hilarious take on the Mexican archetype of the uneducated rural peasant. Velasco reprises her trademark character for the farcical Mexican comedy LAS DELICIAS DEL PODER, in which La Linda Maria meets her long-lost twin sister, from who she was separated at birth. Raised by a privileged family, the estranged sister is now a rising politician making a successful mayoral run when she is felled by an accident and lapses into a coma. It isn`t long before the politically clueless Maria is brought in to take her place, resulting in a PRINCE AND THE PAUPER-like tale of hidden identities and political hijinks. This Mexican satire is presented in Spanish without subtitles.

Shot in stark, grainy black and white, BOLIVIA chronicles two days in the life of Freddy (Freddy Waldo Flores), a Bolivian immigrant in Buenos Aires who works in a job that pays him 15 pesos a day, under the table, as cook in a small, rundown cafi. Ten of those pesos go to make a telephone call to his family back in Bolivia; another peso buys a cup of coffee. At night he endures hassles from the police; by day he must silently suffer the anti-immigrant sentiment of the cafi`s down-and-out Argentine clientele. Director Adrian Caetano drew inspiration from his own experiences as an outcast in Buenos Aires to make this concise low-budget film. His trust in the naturalistic performances of his actors pays off, and the film manages to be stylish, entertaining, and meaningful without resorting to any political or intellectual hand-wringing to make its points. Star Flores is masterful at holding audience attention in a role that allows for minimal dialogue; Rosa Sanchez (in her film debut) is equally captivating as the Paraguayan waitress who becomes his lover.
