Takashi Miike, the director of such cult classics as the DEAD OR ALIVE trilogy, ICHI THE KILLER, and AUDITION, takes on the Japanese horror film with ONE MISSED CALL. Mixing in elements of Hideo Nakata`s THE RING and Takashi Shimizu`s JU-ON: THE GRUDGE, Miike creates a scarefest sure to rattle even the most experienced horror movie lover. Pop sensation Kou Shibasaki stars as Yumi Nakamura, a teenager who gets freaked out when her best friend, Yoko (Anna Nagata), gets a call on her cell phone--from herself, screaming, dated three days in the future. Three days later, at the exact time of the call--which had an ominous, strange ring tone--it all comes true, with Yoko screaming as she dies. The calls continue as Yumi`s friends fear that they will be next to hear the ring tone that foretells death. Meanwhile, Yumi is joined by Hiroshi (Shin`ichi Tsutsumi), whose sister was recently killed and who wants to get to the bottom of the mystery before more young women die. Miike masterfully manipulates the audience, with plenty of scares around each corner, lots of terrifying images, violently dizzying flash cutting, and creepy music by Koji Endo. ONE MISSED CALL is one scary movie that should not be missed.

Two misfit movie buffs, Benito (Santiago Segura) and Carolo (Pablo Carbonell), realize that watching movies to escape their drab, everyday lives is not enough for them--they want to MAKE a movie! So they write a musical and acquire an 8mm camera...but they need a star. They approach their favorite actress, Amanda Castro (Ariadna Gil), who is young and beautiful, but whose career has become marred by drug abuse and tempestuousness. She declines, but that is not enough to deter Benito and Carolo, who kidnap her and take her to a house in the woods to begin filming their masterpiece. Alejandro Gonzalez Iniarritu makes an electrifying directorial debut with AMORES PERROS, an energetic, assured motion picture that jumps off the screen with a seemingly boundless energy. Told in three separate chapters--OCTAVIO AND SUSANA, DANIEL AND VALERIA, and EL CHIVO AND MARU--the film deals with love in the lives of several individuals residing in modern day Mexico City. Octavio (Gael Garcia Bernal) has fallen in love with his brother's wife, Susana (Vanessa Bauche). He begins entering his dog in illegal dogfights in order to save up enough money to run away with her, but eventually learns a powerful lesson when she fails to keep her word. Meanwhile, Daniel (Alvaro Guerrero) has left his wife and daughters for the gorgeous model Valeria (Goya Toledo), but when she is hurt badly in a car accident, the strain on their relationship is stretched to its limits. Finally, El Chivo (Emilio Echevarria) is an ex-revolutionary who has become a paid assassin. Saddened that he has lost all contact with his daughter, he takes one final stand when an intended act of kindness turns brutally tragic.
