Keiko, a young, newly hired weather woman, is eager to give her channel's flagging ratings a boost. She decides a panty shot might do the trick, so during her forecast she lifts her skirt, thereby capturing the attention and the hearts of viewers. Keiko's stunt creates such a stir of excitement over the weather report that viewers begin religiously turning in to see what she'll do next. However, this showboating routine earns the ire of Kaori, the beautiful and ambitious daughter of JTV's chairman. Jealous of her success and aching to take over the weather report, Kaori is willing to do just about anything to get what she wants. A truly bizarre film that suggests a marriage between a Russ Meyer and John Waters film, WEATHER WOMAN is a fine cult comedy.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: (unspecified) - Japanese, English Subtitles - English - Optional

The Piano Teacher (DVD) The Piano Teacher (DVD) » The Piano Teacher (DVD)

Erika (Isabelle Huppert) teaches classical piano in a cold and often abrasive style. Approaching middle age, she lives with her doting mother (Annie Girardot) and still sleeps in the same bed with her. Erika's social life consists of occasionally sneaking away to a peep show where she secretly comes into contact with perverse passion, often using the discarded trash of previous customers. Her beautiful piano playing seduces youthful Walter (Benoit Magimel), who then takes the instructor's advanced class. Walter reveals his desire during a class session. Erika reacts curiously, presenting a long list of cruel, humiliating sexual acts she would like him to perform on her. Meanwhile, the teacher also torments a talented student (Anna Sigalevitch) who is already plagued by her own fears.Michael Haneke (CODE UNKNOWN) directed this unflinching allegorical tale of cruelty. The film caused a stir at the Cannes Film Festival where it was controversial not only for its subject matter, but also because it won multiple awards there--the Grand Prize and acting awards for both Huppert and Magimel--despite leaving many audience members outraged. Based on a novel by Elfriede Jelinek, the film features numerous classical piano sonatas banged out in an aggressive style.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseLetterboxed - 1.85Additional Release Material: Production Interview - 1. The Closet (DVD) The Closet (DVD) » The Closet (DVD)

In this witty commentary on political correctness in the work place, Francois Veber directs the excellent Daniel Auteuil as Francois Pignon, better known around the office as Pignon le Mignon (Pignon the Cutey). Poor Pignon is helplessly misunderstood and pathetically down on his luck. A senior executive at a small corporation, Pignon overhears rumors that he is going to be fired. On top of a difficult relationship with his ex-wife and a failing relationship with his sullen teenage son, the idea of losing his job and becoming incapable of making alimony payments is unfathomable. Pignon feels totally defeated--like a real loser. That's why, when Pignon's next door neighbor (Michel Aumont) offers a solution to his problems, Pignon is quick to accept: He comes out of the closet, convincing his coworkers that he is gay, and making it improbable that the company would fire him at risk of legal action. But before he knows it, Pignon's plan has backfired and metamorphosed in hilarious ways, causing a string of bizarre office-related situations and family dilemmas that are both complex and comic.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 2.35:1Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - French Subtitles - English - OptionalAdditional Release Material: TrailersInteractive Features: Scene Access Interactive Menus

La Rupture (DVD) La Rupture (DVD) » La Rupture (DVD)

Bohemia and the bourgeoisie clash in Claude Chabrol's harrowing tale of a young mother fighting for her child and her sanity. Helene (Stephane Audran) awakes one morning to her husband's incoherent ravings and physical assaults, and, fearing for her life, decides to leave him. She takes her seriously wounded child to the hospital, then moves to a seedy boarding house close to her son's hospital and files for divorce. But, in response, her husband's wealthy and arrogant parents begin a campaign of slander, eventually hiring a down-and-out and slightly shady family friend, Paul Thomas (Jean-Pierre Cassel), to find or plant evidence of Helene's depravity. Helene's world spins out of control as Thomas insinuates himself into her life and manipulates all of her friends to turn against her. Chabrol paves a path towards panic with vertiginous cinematography and claustrophobic art direction as Thomas' schemes to incriminate Helene become more outlandish and increasingly dangerous. Despite her questionable past as a barmaid and stripper, Helene maintains her righteousness, sidestepping Thomas at every turn. The downtrodden boarding house owner and fellow boarders get sucked into the web of deceit and destruction, as Chabrol concocts a shocking and compelling climax to Helene's ordeal.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33
