Xala (DVD)
This biting satire uses African independence as a backdrop to an amusing story about a black businessman who catches a disease called xala, which renders him impotent. His search for a cure leads him into all kinds of comedic misadventures as he frantically peruses the African landscape for a mythical witch doctor who can help with his recovery. Meanwhile, the people of Africa experience their own collective problems as the bureaucracy that grips the country turns out to be significantly less effective than they originally anticipated.
