Madonna s directorial debut!

Filth and Wisdom, is a hilariously sexy tale of three roommates who must delve into mischievous and naughty behavior in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures. A Ukrainian immigrant, A.K. (Eugene Hutz), finances his dreams of trans-continental superstardom with his band, Gogol Bordello, by turning tricks as a role-playing cross dresser. As A.K. literally whips the privileged of London into shape, he also secretly pines for the object of his affection, Holly (Holly Weston), as aspiring ballerina looking for her big break while moonlighting as a slippery stripper. Meanwhile, Juliette (Vicky McClure) steals medicine from her pharmaceutical job in hopes of quenching her dreams of helping Africa s youth. Filth and Wisdom is every bit as erotic and playful as it is poignant and touching, revealing the universal struggles we all face in our pursuits of happiness.

Eric Clapton has achieved the seemingly impossible, becoming more popular in his most recent 10 years onstage than in his first decade in the spotlight. His 1997 Live In Hyde Park home video documented a triumphant concert of the previous summer that followed his massive "Tears In Heaven" hit a few years earlier. This is classic rockin' and guitar-wailin' blues-is-king Clapton, from new versions of his Derek and The Dominos' "Layla" and "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" to Cream's "White Room" and "Badge" to his solo hit of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" to B.B. King's "Every Day I Have the Blues." Added to the original home video's lineup is Clapton's rendition of the Muddy Waters electric blues "Hoochie Coochie Man" and the blues standard "It Hurts Me Too," which Clapton reprised on From the Cradle. Other tracks include: Wonderful Tonight; Five Long Years; Tearin' Us Apart; Old Love; I'm Torn Down; Holy Mother. 89 minutes.

In RIVERS AND TIDES German documentarian Thomas Riedelsheimer explored the enchanting and hypnotic "nature" art-installations of Andy Goldsworthy. Now with TOUCH THE SOUND he turns his camera on nearly deaf percussionist Evelyn Glennie who experiences sound as a kind of touching or vibration. Using Glennie's unique musical sensibilities as a jumping-off point Riedelsheimer introduces the viewer to an amazing sonic realm that we all know but rarely appreciate--a world of tapping sputtering clanging rustling rhythms. The drone of a suitcase's wheels on concrete interrupted by the periodic zing of a zipper the crackling of an icy pond the echoic clang of metal scaffolding struck by Glennie's shoe--these sounds become in Riedelsheimer's skilled hands moments of revelation. Watching this film viewers will feel like they are hearing the world for the first time.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DOCUMENTARIES/MISC. Rating: NR UPC: 767685975534 Manufacturer No: NVG-9755
